New York Film Academy welcomes you to join in a free screening of thesis film projects from graduating students of the joint New York Film Academy/Higher School of Journalism Producers Workshop in Russia. The event will be on July 2, 2011 at Noon @ the Centre for Culture at Higher School of Economics (5a Vorontsovo Pole St). If you plan on attending, please RSVP to newyorkfilmacademy@ya.ru with your full name. The following films will screen:

A Minute

Alexander is a successful man gripped in the vice of overwhelming troubles. Being left alone in a stuck elevator he hears a child’s voice through the frying noise of the speaker. Simple questions asked by the child challenge his accomplishments and ideas. Does he still have time to make things right?

The Box

If you need the mysterious “Box” to be buried in a city park you should assign this task to a couple of experienced “retired gangsters”. And it seems there is nothing to stop the “aces of crime” from accomplishing the task. But on this given day they are not particularly lucky. And what seemed to be a “piece of cake” turns into an ordeal.

The Mirror

Sometimes all it takes to really meet oneself is to look at the world through a tiny looking glass…

Hedgehog

Lyric comedy telling about the father and son’s conflict, and also about a car, a hedgehog – all this twisted around a race for a winning lottery ticket.

Oldie, But Goldie

This is a story of two elderly people who fell in love and fear censure – both public and family. Giving way to this fear they have a fight and it seems part forever. But true love will still win.

Haiku

A regular evening might turn out extraordinary – a promo flyer and book of Japanese poetry can change one’s life forever…
