Toledo United Way hosts education town hall
TOLEDO – The United Way is known for its charity work but Greater Toledo’s chapter is also taking time to invest in local schools.
Tuesday night, the organization held its first-ever “Education Town Hall” at Leverette Middle School.
Toledo Public School officials, parents and area leaders were all invited to participate. United Way officials hoped the crowd would be able to identify problems within the school system and offer some solutions.
The United Way also used the event to reach out to potential volunteers they are hoping will read to or tutor local students. The organization is trying to enlist 5,000 people to help with the initiative.
The event was streamed live online, giving anyone the chance to submit questions on education issues.
The full meeting will be posted for public view on Wednesday at United Way of Greater Toledo’s website.
