Volunteer Spotlight: Donated backpacks needed for homeless students
Who’s in the spotlight: Homeless children who need school supplies.
What’s happening: Volunteers of America is asking for donations of backpacks filled with pencils and erasers, notebooks, rulers and other supplies for the coming school year. Last year, the group collected 4,000 loaded packs.
How you can help: Backpacks can be dropped off at more than 150 locations, including all Tri Counties Bank branches and 100 Starbucks stores. Donations also will be accepted at the Volunteers of America administration office at 1900 Point West Way, Suite 270, in Sacramento.
The drive starts Friday and will continue through July 22.
